Sunless Tan Tips & Instructions
Prep
☀ Exfoliate your skin 24 hours prior to your sunless session using an exfoliating body scrub. We have a variety of PH balanced scrubs & shower gels to choose from to pair with your favorite loofah or body sponge.
☀ Shave or wax your routine areas 24 hours prior to your sunless session.
☀ On the day of your appointment, your skin must be clean and free of cosmetics, deodorants, moisturizers, and perfumes as they can create a barrier of sunless absorption. We STRONGLY recommend that you shower with a PH balanced body scrub or body wash. Absolutely NO bar soaps as they are high in pH and can adversely affect the results of your spray tan.
☀ Wear loose dark fitting clothes and no jewelry for after your sunless application to prevent the disruption of DHA bronzer solution. Avoid tight clothing, shoes, boots, and socks as they may smear or rub solution off.
Sunless Session
☀ For your sunless spray session, you may want to wear an old bathing suit or undergarments. We have disposable suits for purchase. If you prefer no tan lines, discuss this prior to your session with your booth technician or spray tan artist.
☀ Lip balm should be applied before your spray session to protect your lips. If your hair is long, bring a hair tie to pull back, we offer shower caps to protect the hair from over spray. Nose plugs and eye protection are available.
☀ Ph balancing primer will be applied prior to your sunless solution application to maximize your results.
☀ Apply barrier cream prior to your sunless session to areas of your body that are typically tougher and dryer skin such as hands, fingers, feet, toes, heels, knees, elbows and nails.
☀ Select your desired sunless color choice either with your booth technician or spray tan artist and your application will begin.
After Care
☀ Avoid water and sweating for the next 4 hours. Stay cool and dry! Any contact with water will cause deactivation of the DHA development and can result in streaking.
☀ Recommendation of time schedule for solution on your skin will be discussed after your appointment depending on the sunless solution you choose. Warm water rinse only, no soaps or cleansers for the first 24 hours. You may see a brown tint from the cosmetic bronzer in the water, that is normal.
☀ After 24 hours you may wash with a sulfate free shower gel. We have several sunless friendly body washes which are designed to hydrate and help maintain your sunless tan to choose from. Do not use bar soaps or body scrubs. Use a gentle cloth or your hands with your body wash for the duration of your sunless tan as to avoid striping and fading.
☀ Moisturize your skin daily using a tan extending lotion for even wear of your tan. The average sunless tan for 5-7 days, depending on the individual's natural exfoliation process.
☀ Avoid chlorinated pools & hot tubs. Chlorine is harsh on your sunless tan and can shorten its life. Same applies to salt water.
Note: Although you now have a beautiful sunless tan, you must wear SPF's when outdoors in the sun to avoid burning. If you tan in a tanning bed, please regulate time exposure according to your skin's type as you would before your sunless tan.
As with any medical conditions, if you have diabetes, asthma, allergies, or sensitivity to topical products, please consult with a physician. We recommend having a test patch done if you have had negative reactions to other products in the past. If you are pregnant, we prefer you wait until after your baby is born to schedule your session.
